House of Nur's story started when Jean and Noor Nooraddin, two Iraqi Norwegian siblings were shopping for a coffee table. After much frustration with the quality that was on the market, the siblings gave up on looking and decided to custom make their own table. The table would be natural, quality and timeless, and that is how the flagship Siraaj al-Layl coffee table was created.

Jean's vast experience as an architect and interior designer and Noor's background in sustainability, give the siblings a unique ability to identify the shortcomings of the UAE furniture industry. Big brands have been busy convincing society to replace our belongings on a regular basis. Jean and Noor believe that a home's interior should be produced from natural materials while being timeless pieces of furniture that evokes positive energy in your home. 

Thus, House of Nur was created. To produce and curate furniture produced from beautiful natural materials. We are inspired by the teachings of Wabi Sabi, which is centered on acceptance of transience and imperfection, appreciating the imperfections that nature has to offer. Materials we love are natural stone, driftwood, hardwood and sustainable non-toxic textiles. We shy away from poor quality man made materials such as plywood, chipboards, toxic textiles and tiles.
